In May 2023, Omar and his family were invited to an Eid al-Fitr dinner at the White House, celebrating Muslim-American accomplishments at the end of Ramadan. Granting President Biden the superhero name “Professor X” and Vice President Harris “Ms. Marvel” (the two share a first name, Kamala), Omar got to meet several other prominent politicians and represent the shop’s mission in Washington, DC. We were proud to receive a shoutout for training students with special needs at the shop, as well as for being a great community space, during the President’s remarks.
